Spring is just days away, the sun is staying with us a little longer each day, and the temperatures are also warming up. Isn't that such great news... especially in these northern places? We have been looking forward with great anticipation of warmer days
Great anticipation. Do you know what that means? It means: a feeling of excitement about something that is going to happen. And for me that means hope. And I think each and every spring I need to write about this great hope as the winters can be long, dark and hard.
Based on all of that, I thought I'd share some of my very favorite verses on hope. I mean, sharing hope, sharing Jesus, sharing the Good News... well that'll make everyone feel better, won't it?
Let's start in Romans 5:5 where it says, "and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us." Glory to God... hope does not disappoint. That is so encouraging! A little further into Romans we read chapter 15, verse 13, "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." God will fill us and we can abound in hope. That is powerful, isn't it?
In Psalm 42:5 we see David share a deep part of his heart. It reads, "Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence." How reassuring is that? His presence brings the help we need.
Here are several more verses on hope that I'd like to share. Please find them in your Bible, read them in the context they were written and watch it bring joy to your heart.
Psalms 71:14, "But as for me, I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more."
Psalms 33:18, "Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness.”
Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."
Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
Hebrews 6:19, "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil."
It is in the name of hope that I write this today and I pray that hope floods you... mind, body, soul and spirit. There are so many other amazing verses about hope in the Bible. Spend some time this spring focusing of the hope that is in Jesus and remember that hope never fails. May you see, hear and feel Him very near. Hope travels with Him and I pray you become more and more aware of Him traveling with you.
